For the longest time, I remember being fascinated by colour. Colours hold so much feeling for me. From a very early age I can remember just staring at pictures in books, the colours just mesmerising me. It's the power of colour that inspired my passion for drawing. I started using computers for my artwork in 1984, using a very crude package on an Atari 800XL. I was soon hooked. My obsession with art coupled with my love of games lead me to find a vocation in the computer entertainment industry. I have been applying myself in this field for 13 years and in that time have seen computers come on incredibly. From my very early professional years attempting to create a discernible image from of a small cluster of wrong-shaped, low resolution, two-colour pixels all the way to now. Where computers are making what was once a very arduous job into an easy task and impossible ones into simply - hard projects!

This however is only part of the things I would like to accomplish during my life. I have been yearning for another angle to project my art. Something to give balance to my other works. And with this I think I have found it.

What I can only describe as an undeniable side affect of my over-exercised imagination, constantly seeing images that urge me to draw them. Unfortunately, until recently I have not been acting upon these impulses. However, I have decided to find out what happens when I let just MY imagination loose. On this site you will be able to see a growing number of pictures, as I attempt to bring as much of this space orientated imagery to life.

For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with space and my own recurring thoughts on what is out “there”. And the older I become the more vivid my thoughts are. Just looking at a Hubble Space Telescope picture is a mind opening experience. These pictures show so much, yet we are so far away. I want to try and purvey what is, or could be out there from another perspective, not the isolated position we hold in the universe. There could be any manner of sights in the far reaches of space and I long to bring my interpretation of them to life for others to share. I hope you enjoy what you see.

Colour is a powerful weapon. Just laying a hue onto a piece of paper for me changes the very essence of what that image will interpret. This is one of the major reasons I choose to create my pictures - for the most part - using the computer. I enjoy the adjustable nature of the virtual image. I find comfort in the thought I can alter the finite tones of a picture if I need to. Being able to do this has made me a braver artist. I find the absoluteness of pure paper/canvas art a little constricting. Although saying that, I could never be without a pencil.

Although I use the computer heavily, I don't utilize 3D packages to a great extent (except at work, where I wallow in them). I will, once in a while use one to create the basic structure for a picture on the screen for me to work over. I always prefer to work free hand, brushing a picture to life. This gives me a greater feeling of achievement with the final piece.

I couldn't ask for anything more in my life, I feel very fortunate to be who I am with the gifts I'm given. But if anything, the inspiration of others is my own artistic dream. What I really desire, is to have people thinking bigger after looking at my work. I have been inspired by lots of others while growing up and without their stimulus, would never have come as far as this. I would like to give back from which I have taken. Become someone who can inspire others to feel as excited as I do about art, creation, and the whole indescribable fantastic magnitude of it all. If I could to do that, it would be more than enough for me.
